Year in Review

2017. What a year.

It has been quite the roller coaster.

From moving into my own place with friends, signing a lease and learning how to “adult” as some would say. Then having the most challenging fall semester in my college career, struggling to pass physics (but I did so yay me lol).

But the highlight of my year was definitely living in Dublin, Ireland for two months with an amazing group of people who went from strangers to friends in a short period of time.

Living in a new city taught me a lot of things. It gave me perspective. It taught me to be fearless. Flying to a new place to live in a house with strangers, which was terrifying and thrilling all at the same time. Walking everywhere, including in the pouring rain. All of it forced me to get outside my comfort zone, which helped me grow as a person.

As I reflect upon 2017, I see that I had a lot of positive and great things happen to me. Now don’t get me wrong, there were some rough circumstances mixed in there too, but the good outweighed the bad. However, I know that others have not been as fortunate.

Over the past year, I’ve seen so much hate in the world. It's like the Black Eyed Peas song, "Where is the Love?"

Whether the hate stems from religion, racism, political differences, the list goes on. Regardless of the reason, I encourage everyone to go into 2018 with the golden rule in mind, because the world needs to love.

Now, I know world peace is practically impossible so that’s not what I am suggesting. What I am suggesting is that in order to see a difference in the world, it starts with us. How we treat one another, how we help one another, how we take care of the environment. If everyone has the mentality of, it starts with me, that is enough to make a difference.

Okay, I’ll get off my soap box now.

I hope that 2018 will bring you all peace, love and happiness. Happy New Year!

(I took the photo this summer in Belfast. Such an incredible city. 10/10 recommend)
